Media and Conflict Transformation
Chris John Shanahan Milner believes culture is central to understanding and transforming conflict. His work as Director of Transformedia C.I.C combines policy, media, culture and technology to support grassroots and high-level peace processes. This work integrates participatory cinema and virtual reality in remote locations, forum theatre for reconciliation, cultural heritage, SMS communities, radio programming and cultural conflict analysis and has support from USAID, VISTAS, EU, Oxfam, NRC, PBS, BBC etc. Prior to founding Transformedia he worked as Advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Sudan and South Sudan in UK Parliament, Senior Policy Advisor to World Vision, and International Research Manager for Track II peacebuilders Concordis International, and also produced and edited documentary films in conflict contexts for PBS, BBC, Al Jazeera, Guardian Films etc. Chris studied Politics of Sub-Saharan Africa and Development Economics at Oxford University and Violence, Conflict and Development at SOAS.
