Training Councillors
Conducting group therapy sessions in prisons is central to the work of Counsellors and rehabilitation supervisors. This work aims to reduce recidivism through rehabilitation, skills development and social reintegration.
Counsellors work directly with drug users, marginalized and vulnerable prisoners. The main role is to take care of Rehabilitation of both Drug User Prisoners, in regards to drug management, treatment and rehabilitation and of vulnerable prisoners in terms of Skill Development and Social Reintegration.
Group therapy sessions aim to provide a rehabilitative experience for participants and develop the necessary life-skills for social reintegration. Drama therapy and forum theatre provide experiences that work towards:
• Problem management
• Achieving catharsis and emotional release
• Self-reflection and building self-knowledge
• Exploring and overcoming unhealthy behaviour
• Improving social and life skills
